On August 17, 2024, RALGA held a joint commission meeting at Nobleza Hotel to review the annual action plan for the 2024/2025 financial year and develop strategies for its implementation.
RALGA's Secretary General, Mr. Habimana Dominique, highlighted the critical role of the RALGA Commissions in supporting the Executive Committee's decision-making and implementing the Association's activities, highlighting their contributions and the importance of positioning RALGA as a professional think-tank.
During the meeting, each commission held separate brainstorming sessions to review the action plan and propose interventions to optimize service delivery in their respective areas. Key outcomes included recommendations to enhance RALGA's involvement in local district consultations, increase member visits, and improve the visibility of RALGA's actions.
The members of the Commissions recommended boosting RALGA's visibility both to the public and to its members and encouraged RALGA visits to the member workplaces to gain insight into their working conditions and the challenges that require timely advocacy. They also recommended promoting peer learning and best practice sharing among local government institutions, their leaders and staff.
RALGA management noted the recommendations and pledged to consider them in RALGA's future endeavors.
RALGA Commissions, comprising Decentralization, Local Economic Development, Local Finance, and Social Development, serve an advisory role by guiding policy formulation and implementation across their respective areas to support the Association’s mission.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to introduce Ms. Rutagengwa Marie Francine, RALGA’s new Deputy Secretary General, to the commission members.
