RALGA continues training sessions on Accountable Governance and Citizens Participation

In line with its mandate to build the capacity of its members, Rwanda Association of Local Government Authorities (RALGA) has been organizing training sessions aiming at “Empowering Local Councilors in promoting Accountable Governance and Citizen Participation”. It is in this context that starting from 23rd September 2019, RALGA started training sessions meant for elected local leaders and technicians from Gisagara, Huye, Rusizi, Rutsiro, Musanze, Rubavu, Rulindo and Gicumbi districts. The training sessions have been organized in partnership with the Ministry of Local Government (MINALOC) and support from the German Cooperation agency (GIZ) through the Decentralization and Good Governance (DGG) project.

The initial sessions taking place at Saint André Hotel in Kabgayi, Muhanga district involve participants from Gisagara and Huye districts. Beneficiaries of the training sessions include all Sector & Cell Executive Secretaries, Chairpersons of Cell Councils and members of the Sector Council Bureaus.

Gisagara District Mayor urges colleagues to strive for people’s lives transformation

This round of training sessions kicked off on Monday 23rd September 2019 with 168 staff and elected leaders from Gisagara District over the 170 expected. In his welcoming message, the Mayor of Gisagara district, Cllr. Jérôme Rutaburingoga requested participants to actively participate in the training session as he expects them to improve service delivery with the purpose of transforming the lives of the citizens they lead. He took the opportunity to show to participants the trophy awarded to Gisagara district as the 2nd best performer in Unity and Reconcialation at national level. He also thanked RALGA for consistently delivering on its mandate to build the capacity of its members.
